This route is the perfect choice for those who want to experience Warsaw from the inside out—specifically through its best cafes and hidden courtyards. It’s a roughly 15 km ride where the modern specialty coffee scene intertwines with the history of the rebuilt capital and royal splendor.

We start at Rondo Radosława, but instead of heading into the bustle of the skyscrapers, we escape into green Muranów. This neighborhood is a monument-district, built on the rubble of the former Ghetto as a modernist “garden city.”

  • Dobra Materia: Your first stop. Delicious coffee and pastries from a local Warsaw bakery. In high season, grab a deckchair and try their famous cinnamon roll with a flat white.
  • Tekla: A few minutes later, you’ll ride into a characteristic circular courtyard. At Tekla, time slows down to the sound of vinyl records and the aroma of freshly ground beans.

Head out via Andersa Street, passing the Krasiński Garden on your right. This is a Baroque oasis featuring a 17th-century palace, where the National Library houses priceless early printed books. Highly recommended!

  • Fat White Cafe: Before we go further, a quick stop on Andersa Street. This micro-cafe shares a space with a barber shop—you’ll feel like a true local here.

Now for a change of scenery. We pass through the New Town and enter the Royal Route. This is the historical axis of Warsaw, traveled by monarchs for centuries.

  • Café Bristol: A touch of luxury awaits at Krakowskie Przedmieście. The Hotel Bristol, dating back to 1901, is a place full of character where a classic éclair tastes better than anywhere else in the city.

We head down to vibrant Powiśle, passing the Copernicus Science Centre and the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) with its iconic rooftop gardens.

  • Kafka Cafe: A cult spot with a laid-back vibe, perfect for lunch.
  • CoffeeDesk on the Bulwary: From Kafka, head straight to the Vistula riverfront. Grab a coffee to go and sit on the river steps—a quintessential Warsaw afternoon ritual.
  • SAM: If you’re looking for some peace and quiet, turn into Lipowa Street. Right next to the BUW gardens, you can enjoy a great meal surrounded by calm, modern architecture.

Ahead lies your biggest challenge—the climb up Tamka Street. Your reward for the effort comes in the form of two legendary spots:

  • STOR: A legend of the Warsaw specialty coffee scene. The perfect stop for a caffeine recharge before reaching the top of the escarpment.
  • Wrzenie Świata: After turning into Kopernika Street (passing the Ostrogski Palace and Chopin Museum along the way!), you’ll find a sanctuary for bookworms. It’s a cafe-bookstore run by a non-fiction publishing house—coffee always tastes better here with a good book.

We then enter the bustling city center. Following Chmielna Street, we reach the classics:

  • E. Wedel & Lukullus: Choose between the historic E. Wedel Chocolate Lounge or the modern, perfected-to-the-last-detail pastry work of Lukullus (their napoleonka is pure poetry!).
  • Relax & Cafe Rumory: In Pasaż Wiecha, the cult-favorite Relax awaits, and right next to it—a brand-new addition. Inside the white monolith of the Museum of Modern Art (named a top 2026 destination by the New York Times!), you’ll find Cafe Rumory. This is the spot for the “coolest” photo of the trip.

Before closing the loop, we ride through Plac Centralny (Central Square) beneath the Palace of Culture and head toward Plac Grzybowski. This is a place where modern skyscrapers (including Varso Tower) stand side-by-side with the only surviving Nożyk Synagogue.

  • Charlotte Menora: French chic on Plac Grzybowski – perfect for one last croissant.
  • La Bomboniera: On your way back to Muranów, stop by for an Italian touch to enjoy some southern serenity before the end of the journey.

Pro-Tip: If you need a break from all the sweets, you’ll find Warsaw’s famous “kebab hub” in the pavilions along Jana Pawła II (look for Tandoor, Efes, or Sapko) – it’s a vital part of the city’s culinary map!
