Details
The journey takes you through the historic Royal Route, connecting three former royal residences: the Royal Castle, the Royal Łazienki Park, and Wilanów Palace. The path is mostly flat, following comfortable bike lanes and prestigious avenues. The return trip along the banks of the Vistula offers pure relaxation and nature right in the heart of the metropolis.
We begin at Radosława Roundabout, heading toward Anielewicza Street. You are entering the heart of the former Jewish District. Keep an eye out for the minimalist, glass structure of the POLIN Museum.
Following Miodowa Street, past baroque palaces and the Ministry of Health, you will reach Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy). This is the official starting point of the Royal Route.
Coffee Break: Turn into one of the cobblestone side streets of the Old Town. We recommend Piwna Street—it is slightly quieter than the main square and filled with charming cafes.
You are now entering Krakowskie Przedmieście and Nowy Świat. This is Warsaw’s most representative stretch, featuring wide sidewalks and stunning architecture.
Highlights: Look out for the Presidential Palace, Warsaw University, and luxury heritage hotels like the Bristol and Raffles.
Fun Fact: The heart of Frédéric Chopin is resting in the Holy Cross Church (Kościół św. Krzyża).
De Gaulle Roundabout: Say hello to Warsaw’s famous Palm Tree – the city’s most exotic and iconic landmark.
As you ride down Ujazdowskie Avenues toward the Belvedere, you will feel the prestige of the district, home to many embassies and government ministries.
Royal Łazienki Park: A must-stop. While cycling is not allowed inside the park, it is worth locking your bike at the gate (near the Chopin Monument) for a 30-minute stroll. You will see the Palace on the Isle, majestic peacocks, and Warsaw’s famous friendly squirrels.
Just past the park, you’ll find the neoclassical Belvedere Palace, the former seat of Polish presidents.
A long stretch along Sobieskiego Street leads you straight to Wilanów Palace. This residence of King John III Sobieski is one of the few monuments that survived World War II almost untouched.
Where to Eat: The area surrounding the palace is a hub for great restaurants. It’s a perfect spot for a solid lunch or delicious artisanal ice cream.
The Gardens: If you have time, enter the palace gardens—a walk among the sculptures and by the lake is pure magic.
From Wilanów, head back toward the center, but this time take the riverside path (via Powsińska and Czerniakowska streets). Once you pass Czerniaków Port, you’ll enter the modern Vistula Boulevards. This is the social heart of the city. To tutaj bije towarzyskie serce miasta. Take a seat on the concrete steps by the river near the Copernicus Science Centre or visit one of the many riverside cafes—some are even located on boats!
Finally, take Słonimskiego Street to return directly to Radosława Roundabout.
